Dr Shehan does not take every patient. Before any consultation is booked, he reviews your picture to confirm that this approach is genuinely suited to your situation.

This is not a screening form — it is a real conversation. You will be heard. You will receive a clear, honest response.

Certain aspects of care — assessment, nutrition, lifestyle, and follow-up — can be conducted remotely.

Suitability

This approach is right for some — and honest about that.

Dr Shehan works with a small number of patients at a time to ensure depth. The following gives you a sense of who this is typically suited for.

Likely a Good Fit
  • Chronic symptoms that have not responded to conventional care alone
  • Normal test results but persistent, abnormal daily life
  • Multiple interconnected symptoms that feel related but have been treated separately
  • Overwhelm from conflicting advice or too many practitioners
  • Stress, nervous system dysregulation, or emotional patterns tied to physical symptoms
  • Willingness to engage with the process — not looking for a quick fix
Likely Not a Match
  • Acute emergencies — please attend an emergency clinic or hospital
  • Those seeking a single one-off appointment with no follow-through
  • Conditions requiring immediate surgical or specialist intervention
  • Expectation of purely passive treatment with no lifestyle involvement
  • Those seeking fast, symptomatic-only resolution without addressing root cause

Not sure? Send a WhatsApp message anyway. Dr Shehan will tell you directly — and will always signpost you to the right route if this is not it.

Common Questions

Before you send that first message.

An initial assessment session is typically 90 minutes. Dr Shehan takes time to map the full picture before forming any plan. Follow-up sessions are generally 45–60 minutes, depending on what the stage of care requires.

Most of the care — particularly acupuncture and in-person examination — requires you to be in Malta. However, some elements including the initial consultation, nutrition planning, and ongoing follow-ups may be conducted remotely. Many international patients book a week or more to receive an initial concentrated treatment block.

This depends entirely on your case. Simpler or more recent presentations may see meaningful change in a focused initial block of 3–6 sessions. More complex chronic or multi-system cases typically follow the four-stage pathway — Assess, Reset, Stabilise, Optimise — over a longer period. Dr Shehan will give you an honest projection during or after the initial assessment.

Coverage varies by insurer and country. Some patients are able to claim a portion of costs, particularly for the medical consultation element. Dr Shehan can provide documentation to support insurance claims where applicable. It is worth checking with your insurer directly.

Yes — and Dr Shehan encourages it. This care complements rather than replaces conventional medicine. He works alongside your existing medical team and will always recommend conventional investigation or specialist referral wherever clinically indicated. Safety and clinical standards come first.

This is precisely the patient Dr Shehan most often works with. If you have seen multiple practitioners, tried various protocols, and still feel stuck — that is not a sign that nothing can help. It is often a sign that what has been tried so far has not addressed the actual drivers. The assessment is designed to find those drivers.

Safety is the first priority. Dr Shehan reviews all current medications and supplements as part of the initial assessment. Nothing is recommended that conflicts with your existing medical care, and any proposed changes to medication must be coordinated with your prescribing physician. Fit and safety are always reviewed before treatment begins.
